Radically Loved® with Rosie Acosta

Hi I’m Rosie Acosta. I am a Meditation Teacher; Speaker and Author of You Are Radically Loved: A healing journey to self-love. I grew up in East Los Angeles during the 92 La Riots and it set me on a troubled path for many years. I didn’t grow up with mentors in my life, so I turned to reading as many books as I possibly could to learn about life’s purpose. In my journey as a First Gen-Mexican American, I found having these conversations gave me insight, support, and inspiration. So, I decided to create a place where I could share these conversations with my community. The Radically Loved Podcast was born! How do we create a radically loved life? Come have a sit with me so we can discover all things mindfulness, spirituality, self-love, and overall healthy living. Please be sure to share the episodes that you love and also leave us a review!

Alyson Charles is the Rockstar Shaman. She’s a television host, speaker, and spiritual teacher. After years of pushing her truth away, she chose to align with her calling as a mystic and shamanic practitioner.

In this episode, we talk about the traumatic event that guided Alyson towards her purpose and how it was a moment of pure connection to source. She explains how she used that moment to catalyze her life to be what it is today.

Radically Vibrant Alyson

  • The scariest and most miraculous moment of my life were the same—I was connected to source and I had daily awakenings that changed my life
  • I knew I had to start the process of preparing and clearing myself to get ready for a great awakening
  • When you try to find the Shaman for you—listen to them, read their writing, and ask friends who have had empowered Shamanic experiences

Radically Inspired Clarity

  • When we deny messages and signs, they culminate to traumatic events and bad health
  • Surrendering to a divine intervention isn’t a sign of weakness—it’s a moment of controlling your future and choosing your wellbeing and happiness
  • Each Shaman has varying rituals and ceremonies but at our core we are all divine instruments

Alyson Answers…

  • How did you become a “Rockstar Shaman”?
  • What would you tell somebody who is “putting a cork over their gifts” and wants to release the gifts they feel?
  • What was the first steps you took to align yourself to the path of a Shaman?

Radically Loved Quotes

“People think surrendering means giving up, but it’s the opposite. You’re tapping into the greatest courage, strength, and vulnerability possible.”

“I felt an energetic blast and it blasted off my egoic shell that I’d lived in my whole life. In one moment, I became awake.”

“There was an aspect of me that knew this level of pain and suffering couldn’t be what life was all about.”

Steve Griffith is the Director and Founder of Sukhavati Ayurvedic Retreat and Spa. He has studied yoga and meditation since the 70’s and is a long term student of The Beatles meditation teacher, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.

I sat down with Steve in Bali, talking about the importance of feeling radical love, how to be present, and how to tap into our purpose through intent.

Radically Vibrant Steve

  • We have to break through the conditioning that created an unconscious habit of thought patterns that no longer serve us
  • We never totally revert back to our old patterns once we created new habits, we just have moments where we temporarily fall back into the pattern
  • Being solution minded is a mindset that looks for an answer to a problem instead of placing blame for the problem or giving in to a false reality

Radically Inspired Clarity

  • Each time we think about a negative event, we trigger the same chemical response and the stress continues past the actual event
  • Our addictions, habits, and routines hardwire our brain into a neurological pattern that keep us in the past and remove us from having new intentions and thoughts
  • We create our story in our mind and then we walk into it just as a director creates a movie

Steve Answers…

  • Why did you create the Sukhavati Ayurvedic Retreat?
  • Does it take more than intention to change our minds?
  • What is your perspective on the amount of consumption we are intaking and...are we doomed?!

Radically Loved Quotes

“Everyone of us has this great gift of being a human, and being a human means we have free will. Whether we exercise it or not is a habitual practice of our past.”

“Stress is chemical imbalances that remove the sense of who we are.”

“The world is as you are.”

Jeanette Schneider is speaker, author, advocate, and mother. She is the President and CEO of LIV Media and the founder of Lore Advocacy, a network of professional women changing the world through gender equality and the pursuit of shattering glass ceilings. She is also the host of the Gold with Jeanette Schneider Podcast.

In this episode, Jeanette talks about how women can move past the subconscious beliefs holding them back from achieving their dreams. We also discuss her conscious parenting strategies and how she’s raising a mindful daughter.

Radically Vibrant Jeanette

  • I ask my daughter, “How are you feeling in your heart?” and now it has become a normal part of our relationship where we listen to our feelings when we have to find a solution or answer a question in our lives
  • If I can name the negative feeling and the trigger that caused it, I can take active steps to move through it and grow from it
  • I masculinized myself in corporate America and having a daughter brought out my feminine side and turned me into this advocate

Radically Inspired Clarity

  • Writing a love letter to your younger self shows you the beliefs you had as a kid that are subconsciously living in your mind today
  • In our pain, we are the common denominator and we have to commit to a new way of living or else we stay passive to the darkness we allow into our lives
  • We can have the life that we want and the love that we want but you have to do the work—you have to commit—and slowly you’ll unravel a new way of living

Jeanette Answers…

  • How do we break out of the vicious cycle of self criticizing?
  • What is your prayer for the next generation of women?
  • What’s the biggest lesson your daughter has taught you?

Radically Loved Quotes

“We are our own worst critic and we are our most important and sacred relationship.”

“I check in with myself when I feel like I’m not at my most aligned, highest state. When I feel sadness, anger or frustration I poke at it and ask, “what is this?””

“My greatest hope is that more girls are empowered and have examples that move them into decision making roles.”

In this episode, Gina talks about her program “Kids Are Not For Sale” and how we can be a part of ending this global problem.

Radically Vibrant Gina

  • It was a personal experience where I was able to potentially dodge a bad situation that connected me to the human trafficking problem
  • There is no trace of trafficking in our products and we ensure this through every part of our product process
  • You don’t have to fail for me to succeed, and I don’t have to fail for you to succeed—we can succeed together

Radically Inspired Clarity

  • We all have a voice and we can leverage it to raise awareness for causes that must be solved
  • We live in a society that hides the worst of us—we don’t want to believe that people are selling children, so we have to talk about these problems
  • The more you give, the more you live

Gina Answers…

  • How did your passion to solve the human trafficking problem come about?
  • Why don’t we know more about human trafficking? Why isn’t it all over the news?
  • What advice would you give to people who think their voice doesn’t make a difference?

Radically Loved Quotes

“I believe it’s all about giving it your best always because even if you fail, you’re always moving forward.”

“People are afraid to discuss human trafficking because it’s an ugly truth. Last year 250,000-300,000 American children were trafficked.”

“Find what you love and speak to it. Every single voice matters.”

  • I need constant reminders to stay focused on my values and to fight the daily battle of imposter syndrome—I’m a regular person with the same emotions as everyone else
  • Curiosity and open mindedness are my favorite traits in others

Radically Inspired Clarity

  • Social media is a beautiful tool that can be used in a powerful way but it shouldn’t be a personal marker for our place in the world
  • Being playful in business is essential to following purpose—our journeys don’t have to make logistical sense
  • Money is a source of freedom and the opportunity it gives to further causes we believe in is a beautiful experience

Ksenia Answers…

  • What is your relationship with social media as somebody with a significant following?
  • What’s the biggest driving force in your career?
  • What makes you feel the most free?

Jessica Jade is a heart centered entrepreneur, helping women of color embrace self care and their feminine health. She is a health coach, founder of a skincare line, and the host of a TV show.

In this episode, Jessica talks about her experience with celiac disease and the positive impact it has had on her life. She explains her inspiration around building her community, how she deals with her seasonal depression, and how she’s growing her skincare line.

Radically Vibrant Jessica

  • I have to take mental days off of work and, honestly, from humanity and I think everybody should try it
  • Living in New York, I get seasonal depression in January and February, and I’m aware of this and I practice self care and giving myself what I need during that time
  • Sharing my personal experiences online is about divulging information that shows the pretty picture on social media isn’t the only reality

Radically Inspired Clarity

  • When we don’t advocate for ourselves and live lives true to who we are, we hold that within our bodies and it manifests in our health
  • Doubting ourselves and the potential reach of our impact is normal, we have to change our thought patterns to support ourselves instead of questioning our abilities
  • Surrounding ourselves with supporters and like minded people is when we thrive and reach the next level of our lives

Jessica Answers…

  • Tell us about the sugar cleanse that you’re on right now and the experience your having?
  • How did you create your health and wellness community?
  • Can you talk about your seasonal depression?

Radically Loved Quotes

“I feel like a lot of women, especially women of color, don’t advocate for themselves.”

“I use social media to post the parts of my life that are ugly and sad so I can make social media a more transparent place.”

“I radically love myself.”

Anna Yusim is the author of Fulfilled: How the Science of Spirituality Can Help You Live a Happier, More Meaningful Life. She is a Graduate of Stanford University and Yale University School of Medicine and a psychiatrist with a private practice in New York City.

In this episode, Anna explains what to look for when we’re manifesting something from Source, how our perceived reality is a tiny fraction of what’s really happening around us, and why forgiveness will set you free.

Radically Vibrant Anna

  • We are an imprint of the ancestors who lived before us, as well as our parents, and that brings positive traditions and habits as well as negative thought patterns that no longer serve us
  • We often ask the universe for such a specific request that something could be given to us that is so much better than we know but we miss it because our expectations are so narrow
  • We need to live our lives and know the right doors will open when it’s time—we’re not here to worry but to enjoy ourselves

Radically Inspired Clarity

  • Spirituality comes into our lives when we’re ready for it and only then will we see the opportunity for spiritual transformation
  • Ninety-nine percent of reality is unseen and unheard and only 1% is seen and heard from the conscious mind
  • People object the idea of forgiveness without realizing the person benefiting the most from it is us

Anna Answers…

  • How did you realize how important spirituality was in order for you to feel fulfilled?
  • How does our inner world connect to our ancestral imprints?
  • How were you able to integrate daily practice into your spiritual journey?

Radically Loved Quotes

“When we localize our power outside of ourselves and blame other people, we become a victim.”

“Once you transform your inner world, your outer world transforms by association.”

“There is nothing that could be a more inefficient way to live our lives than to be angry and resentful.”

Meditation practice helps us on many levels, from simple relaxation to freedom within the states of mental chaos so we can begin to learn the basics of meditation in a simple yet engaging setting. While meditation is often considered to be a state of being, a place to "get to," in actuality meditation is a process that can yield various states of being: relaxation, focus, clarity, etc. It's this sense of a deliberate and active process of awareness that characterizes our approach to building a meditation practice. This meditation is to establish a sense of grounding, we go through body scan, sensory awareness and intention setting.

Alexia Vernon is the author of Step Into Your Moxie: Amplify Your Voice, Visibility, and Influence in the World. She was branded the “Moxie Maven” by President Obama’s White House Office of Public Engagement for her approach to women’s empowerment. Alexia has been featured in CNN, NBC, ABC, CBS, Forbes, Inc, European Business Review, and Women’s Health Magazine.

In this episode, Alexia talks about how to connect to your empowerment, what to do when our businesses aren’t working, and who you should take advice and mentorship from.

Radically Vibrant Alexia

  • When we hesitate to speak up for ourselves, we’re not defined by those moments—they are opportunities for us to move away from our fear and into our empowerment
  • Coming to meditation from a place of noise and insecurity makes us hit a wall so I add movement, get the blood flowing and then bring us back to that place of calm
  • We tend to pivot when our business isn’t working but what we need is to find the little piece that isn’t working and then change that

Radically Inspired Clarity

  • Recognizing the moments where we are in self doubt is the first step to living in empowerment and visibility
  • When we choose to serve, instead of seek ego driven external stimulation, our careers and lifestyles open up for us
  • Get feedback and mentorship from people who live the lifestyle you want because they’ll understand you on the level that you need

Alexia Answers…

  • How can we become more integrated with our feelings of empowerment?
  • What was the process of becoming a “moxie” look like for you?
  • Where should we draw the line when something in our careers isn’t going the way that we intended?

Radically Loved Quotes

“When we let go of trying to change what happens and instead reclaim how we choose to speak to ourselves and others around us, that’s what ultimately determines how the rest of the chapters are going to go.”

“The sensation of butterflies in our stomach is beckoning us into our next level of truth and visibility.”

“For me resilience is a core value.”

Nicole Huber is a former Paraguayan model and beauty queen. After winning Miss World Paraguay 2011 and Miss International Paraguay 2012, she decided to quit the industry in pursuit of self-discovery. Nicole is now a yoga teacher, health coach, and founder of Vida Zen, a mindful Spanish TV series.

In this episode, Nicole talks about her transformation from self judging adolescent to emotionally intelligent yogi. She also leads us through a self-love meditation to improve the awareness of our internal dialogue.

Radically Vibrant Nicole

  • When I was younger, I saw my value through what my body looked like instead of how much I was loving myself and how well I was taking care of it
  • A moment of self love can change your entire life as you are awakened to the choice of giving love to yourself
  • My health is always a sign to me of whether or not I’m listening to my body and to source, and when health issues arise I ask myself, “What am I not listening to?”

Radically Inspired Clarity

  • Our body isn’t something that needs to be changed and conformed, it’s a vessel that pushes us through life
  • Self love is when you feel from source your own divine perfection
  • Giving consciousness is the greatest gift we can give to others

Nicole Answers…

  • How did yoga change your relationship with your body?
  • What do you do when you feel distant from source?
  • How can we cultivate more self love?

Ashley Turner is a yoga and meditation teacher, licensed Marriage + Family therapist, facilitator, writer, and Priestess. She founded Yoga Psyche Soul—an Advanced Yoga Psychology Training for yoga teachers, therapists, and students. Ashley is also the co-founder of Urban Priestess, a school to empower women, and is the co-author of Aroma Yoga.

In this episode, Ashley explains how she stays transparent on social media, why she defines her goals as the minimum she needs—not the maximum that she wants, and why she’s isn’t in a rush for achievement.

Radically Vibrant Ashley

  • I don’t post anything on social media unless it’s adding value—inspiration, information, humor, or a community builder
  • I set a timer for myself so I know how long I’ve been scrolling on social media
  • Becoming a psychotherapist takes 3,000+ hours of working with clients—we understand the nature of the unconscious psychodynamics and that’s our value to our clients

Radically Inspired Clarity

  • We’re playing into this “not-enoughness” but...what if we switch the dialogue? Let’s redistribute that energy to practice contentment and practice non-striving
  • Seeking shortcuts removes the richness and wisdom that comes from embodying our lessons and being patient with our learning
  • A balance exists between an unhealthy social media routine and using it as a means to connect with our community and other entrepreneurs in our industry

Ashley Answers…

  • How do you stay mindful in the world of social media?
  • What values are we showing younger generations by showing them achievement on social media?
  • How do we cut through the noise of life coaches online and find true coaches that can provide value to us?

Radically Loved Quotes

“What is the minimum that you need to live off of? And let’s go with that as our goal or else we set ourselves up for things never being enough.”

“We are voraciously consuming information and it’s feeding the beast, creating an insatiable hunger in society. We have to switch the whole game.”

“As a coach, you can only take other people as far as you have gone.”

Felicia Tomasko is a the President of Bliss Network and Editor-In-Chief of LA Yoga Magazine and Boston Yoga Magazine. She has spent the majority of her life practicing yoga and ayurveda. Felicia has earned degrees in environmental biology, anthropology, and nursing and holds certifications in yoga, yoga therapy, and ayurveda. She’s spent her career working in cognitive neuroscience and plant biochemistry.

In this episode, Felicia talks about how we digest at every level (physically, mentally, and spiritually), how often we should be practicing self care and detox, and why humans need to shift their focus to their breathe based off of our biology alone.

Radically Vibrant Felicia

  • After being introduced to Ayurveda, I realized that it’s the owner’s manual for the human body
  • The practices of yoga cultivate, strengthen, and enhance our ability to digest ourselves, our souls, and the foods we eat
  • I like to cultivate instances of positive peer pressure to shift people into their purpose

Radically Inspired Clarity

  • Yoga helps us deal with the heartbreak of what it means to be human—what are the tools, practices, and people that can soothe our soul?
  • Detoxes are not a once in a while thing, they are a regular practice of detoxing our mind, body, and soul
  • At the heart of love, is acceptance–acceptance for ourselves and of other people

Felicia Answers…

  • What is the biggest imbalance that we are suffering from right now?
  • How can we utilize our breath for detoxifying?
  • How have you cultivated a community?

Radically Loved Quotes

“When we are intentional with our breath it shifts so many things that we are experiencing, both that we are aware of and totally not aware of.”

“Self care is not an add on. The detox is not the destination. What are we integrating into our every day is the self care and the detox.”

“In yoga, there is so much focus on the breath because...it’s the only thing that we always have with us.”

Natalie Miles

Radically Loved Podcast

Natalie Miles is a spiritual guide and mentor. She provides guidance through spiritual readings, mentorship and gatherings of like-minded people in her community. Aside from her spiritual work, she is the host of So You Think You’re Intuitive Podcast.

In this episode, Natalie explains how she discovered her spiritual gift and how to discern a real medium from a fake. We talk about discovering your passion and pursuing it fearlessly, regardless of what those around you think. Afterwards, Natalie explains how to improve our communication with our intuition and how to receive all of the answers we need from the universe.

Radically Vibrant Natalie

  • You have to do what lights you up and the right people will stay around you and support you
  • Our lives are meant to light us up, if our heart isn’t thrilled about it, why are we doing it?
  • My self care starts with setting boundaries and saying no to anything that doesn’t serve you

Radically Inspired Clarity

  • There is a letting go process while stepping into a spiritual awakening-letting go of people and experiences that don’t currently serve us
  • Traumatic events shouldn’t be the only way we wake up to our intuition, we should allow our intuition to speak its truth through the small details of our lives
  • When we demand an answer from the universe, we ask from a place of ego instead of the heart and we block ourselves from the answer

Natalie Answers…

  • What advice do you have for someone who wants to pursue a career that their family and friends don’t support?
  • How do we improve communication with our intuition?
  • How can we know that a spiritual medium is real and not a scam?

Radically Loved Quotes

“Why do we wait for the big things to happen to us to listen to our intuition?”

“If it’s not a hell yes, it’s a hell no.”

“When you put yourself first, that’s when all of the amazing stuff flows in.”

Radically Loved Podcast

Carly Stein is the founder and CEO of Beekeeper’s Naturals. Her company creates products from bee products with a full focus on the conservation of bees. Carly was just named a member of the Forbes 30 under 30 list.

In this episode, Carly talks about her experience leaving her stable 9-5 job and pursuing her dreams. She shows us the resilience and commitment it takes to commit to your passions and her understanding that she’s not the best at everything-but she’ll work hard for what she believes in and that’s what has created her success.

Radically Vibrant Carly

  • I found my passion by sitting down and creating a happiness spreadsheet with what I loved to do and again and again, bees kept coming up
  • Without bees, the inflation on healthy foods will make them pretty close to inaccessible
  • The universe conspires for people who follow their dreams, be one of them and the universe conspires for you

Radically Inspired Clarity

  • Creating your own startup is a test of purpose and how badly you want to live a life that is true to your passions and calling
  • Commitment is superior to intelligence when it comes to creating a path for your dream career, relationship, and lifestyle
  • Building routine can be really difficult, but it involves the same commitment as your passions

Carly Answers…

  • What hardships did you experience transitioning from a 9-5 to entrepreneurship?
  • What’s is the biggest thing we’re doing to harm bees and how do we stop?
  • What rituals do you have for yourself to keep yourself in a state of equilibrium?

Radically Loved Quotes

“Having a startup is about getting in touch with your gut, getting to know yourself and getting really good at cleaning up the messes you make.”

“You don’t have to be the best or brightest. You just have to be prepared to put in the work, don’t give up and be resilient.”

“No mistake is unfixable when you love yourself and trust yourself to get it right.”
