Radically Loved® with Rosie Acosta

Hello Friends, I’m Rosie Acosta. I am a Meditation Teacher; Speaker and Author of You Are Radically Loved: A healing journey to self-love. I grew up in East Los Angeles during the 92 La Riots and it set me on a troubled path for many years. I didn’t grow up with mentors in my life, so I turned to reading as many books as I possibly could to learn about life’s purpose. In my journey as a First Gen-Mexican American, I found having these conversations gave me insight, support, and inspiration. So, I decided to create a place where I could share these conversations with my community. The Radically Loved Podcast was born! How do we create a radically loved life? Come have a sit with me so we can discover all things mindfulness, spirituality, self-love, and overall healthy living. Please be sure to share the episodes that you love and also leave us a review!

Episode Highlights
My Broken Language
●My Broken Language is a memoir of Quiara’s early childhood to the moment she came of age as an adult woman.
●The title comes from her growing up surrounded by different languages.
●Languages she had encountered included oral, musical, spiritual, and visual languages.
●Quiara had to decide how she wanted to speak as she grew older.
Quiara’s Background
●Quiara comes from a mixed background. Her family is large and diverse.
●Her parent’s separation split her reality between the two different backgrounds of her parents.
●She found the Buddhist practices of her mother’s side magical. It showed her joy in the midst of horrific times.
●On the other hand, her father’s life in the suburbs was the ideal American Dream life that displayed order over chaos.
Concealing Chaos
●Quiara felt that there was a design to the suburbs that concealed the natural chaos of life. She knew that life wasn’t about order.
●She had moments wherein she was lost in herself. During these times, she flowed with the pandemonium of life.
●The suffering of her family on her mother’s side emulated a real and honest human experience, which was facing life and death.
●Her family perceived their bodies as a “church”. No matter where or how they live, they live genuinely with their own church.
Chaos as a Part of Life
●Experiencing life is like art. The experience comprises calm and beauty, as well as chaos.
●The energy of life either can be tranquil or intense as the tsunami.
●Having both serenity and extremity in your life gives you a fully saturated experience. Quiara recommends trying to harness the energy that comes from it.
●She learned this from her mother as she found her path to be crowned as a priestess.
●With natural energy, you can see the different forces of nature at work—both the beautiful and the terrifying.
Writing Her Memoir
●Quiara started writing her memoir at the end of 2019.
●Similar to Quiara, many writers worry about the accuracy of their memories Despite not remembering the details of her childhood, she remembers the feeling of the moment.
●Writing her memoir was not about listing events in her life, but narrating her growth throughout those years.
●She was protective when writing about her loved ones but was more critical about herself. It allowed her to understand herself in carrying through her life.
●The book was also a way for her to bring awareness to social issues surrounding her family.
Reading the Completed Book
●Reading it aloud on Audiobook made her appreciate all the voice actors who brought her book to life.
●A scene in her book that stuck with her is a moment in 1995 when her class was talking about welfare queens.
●During that time, she felt angry about the situation. Reading it in her book brought back the unpleasant feelings.
Connecting Through Stories
●Rosie shares her own similar experience of hate and racism in the grocery store with her abuelita.
●The starting quote of her book is about how words have magic and power. Quiara’s story made Rosie feel seen.
●You can’t confine yourself in a box. For many, identity and labeling are elements that shouldn’t be limited.
●Quiara found freedom in her varying cultures. She realized didn’t have to fit into certain standards as her own person.
Quiara’s Spiritual Journey
●Quiara’s faith is earth-based and body-based. She inherited this from the Puerto Rican culture and practices.
●She watched her sister giving birth to her own child. For her, the experience channels different energy than giving birth herself.
●Despite being in different places, they came together to help her sister go through labor.
●That moment of coming together in their church felt sacred to Quiara.
Body and Spirit
●Quiara thinks that America is a very disembodied nation in a spiritual and philosophical sense.
●The nation is very mind-driven and tends to surrender its body and spirit. This can be unhealthy
●Her sister’s experience at a birth center gave her a new view on consent, especially in medical practice.
●People should pay more attention to consent in medicine. The power of your voice is often underestimated.
●Don’t lock your emotions into your body. Even in a disembodied society, embodiment through movement is important
The Importance of Embodiment
●Words can often be inadequate to a physical form of processing.
●Social media reduces relationships to words. It lacks the vibe and spirit that are integral parts of relationships.
●Her mother’s spiritual practice involved the use of drums. Quiara started to feel her spiritual connection through the drum beatings and dancing.
●The drum is the voice or heart within you. The body and our movement are physical manifestations of the drum.
●Quiara was able to witness amazing manifestations of power from her family’s spiritual practice
How Quiara Feels Radically Loved
●Quiara feels radically loved in many ways.
●It’s fulfilling for her when she accepts support from others.
5 Powerful Quotes from This Episode
[10:57] “What happened in those moments was that I was able to ride the chaos of life, in a way that created a tremendous flow and power. I was able to harness the chaos that was around entries of life.”

[16:40] “You learn about the human spirit by seeing the forces in nature and how they work. It's not all rainbows and butterflies, that's part of nature. But there's also the lightning strike, and there's also the whirlwind.”

[18:44] “But the truth is, we do remember our bodies. I remember the feeling of that time—of that moment. That is a form of memory. I'm not trying to construct a timeline of events. I'm trying to tell a story about growth.”

[31:33] “It's freedom because you can't be confined in one space. For me, there's just no box that's 100% accurate. Questions of identity and labeling— there aren't boxes where they are 100% accurate.”

[47:30] “Writers know more than anyone how inadequate words are in the face of human accomplishment and torment, and heart and spirit.”

Episode Highlights
Updates on Rosie’s ‘You are Radically Loved’
●Rosie has recently finished recording the audiobook of ‘You are Radically Loved’
●The book is now available for pre-order in Amazon and in Target, Walmart, Barnes & Nobles and other local bookstores
On Setting New Year's Resolutions
●Rosie believes that not setting goals or expectations lets you avoid disappointment from undesired outcomes.
●She believes in the importance of goals and aspirations but tries her best not to get attached to the results.
Dealing with Expectations in Marriages
●In relationships, we tend to set high expectations for our partners.
●We all tend to dismiss our significant other if they don’t act their expected role in the relationship.
●There are usually two ways to deal with this: to get in the mud and dig yourself out or not do anything.
●If you want to get out of the situation, both parties must be willing to do the work.
●No matter how flawed we are as people, things will work as long as you and your partner are on the same page.
Keeping Sight of Your ‘Why’
●We must always dream big and shoot for the stars, but we must not lose sight of the reason why we are doing what we’re doing.
●Taking small steps toward the end goal is more efficient than trying to figure out the formula to achieve the grandeur.
Journey to Becoming ‘Book Bestsellers’
●Writing and publishing a book is challenging. It takes ten years to get on any bestseller list and 15 years to get on the New York Times.
●It is easy to lose sight of your ‘why’ if you write for the accolade of becoming a best-selling author or making it to a New York Times list.
●It is important to go back to and stick to the reason why you started.
Reaching your Self-imposed Goals
●Tessa has seen many people reach their goals and gain monetary success but do not seem happier.
●When people reach a certain level of success, they are left with questions of “What’s next?” or “What’s left?”
●The mind always wants what's better, and it fails to recognize the rewarding moment of reaching a goal.
●Tessa recalls her earlier days with her husband, when they lived from paycheck to paycheck, being scrappy with money. Despite the challenges, she remembers them as the best times of her life; she attributes this to knowing her ‘why.’
Dealing with Self-Involvement in Relationships
●People have a tendency to get self-involved in relationships.
●We are too focused on our own needs and what we can to bring to the table that we fail to acknowledge what our partner does for us.
●We tend to disengage with them instead of communicating and figuring out a plan to overcome the situation.
Power of Having Difficult Conversations
●Rosie cites the importance of going through difficult conversations with your partner before leading to resentment. Identify what you need to do to help each other and express what you love about each other.
●You can either close yourself off and disengage entirely or be proactive and engage.
●Not attaching yourself to the results of your expectations allows you to change your perspective on your relationships.
●Going through uncomfortable conversations is difficult, but you have to lay it down on the table and out of your system to learn from it.
Observing and Being Aware of your Partner’s Needs
●Having a significant other is about observing and becoming aware of each other’s needs.
●It also includes being present without being attached to results or putting pressure on somebody else to satisfy your expectations.
●The same goes for your other relationships— siblings, adopted family, and other people who come into your lives.
5 Powerful Quotes from This Episode
[12:14] “There [are] two ways to deal with [disagreements], especially if you've been in a relationship for a long time, you're either gonna go through it, get in the muck and get all dirty, and do the work to dig yourself out, or you're not. And there is no right or wrong answer. It's either you're going to do it, or you're not going to do it.”
[21:17] “The mind always wants what's better. And in your mind, it's going to be different [and better]. It's going to feel better than when it actually happens. And those moments are fleeting.”
[30:49] “The experience [of] being with [another person] is not surrender. It's not giving up. It's not a zero-sum game. [It] is about observing and becoming aware of the needs of the relationship and of each other.”
[31:40] “It’s not a perfect system and it was very uncomfortable. There were lots of tears…But I am so glad we did because we're [in a good place now.]”
[32:08] “When you have hard conversations and teach invaluable life lessons, even though it's uncomfortable, go through it. I find it so worth it.”

They say thoughts create our reality. But because of ego, our mind can sometimes be unreliable and untrustworthy. It produces a superficial fear that disconnects us from the voice of our intuition. That said, the only way to tune into your purpose is to look inwards and reconnect with your true self. All this takes is pausing, embracing stillness, and returning to your center. This energy shift then manifests itself into different aspects of our lives.
In this episode, 3-time New York Times bestselling author Kimberly Snyder joins us to talk about her new book. Kimberly candidly shares the life experiences that led her to write books and the yogic path. She discusses teachings and practices that will allow us to tune into our purpose and connect with our true self. Finally, Kimberly expands on how ego manifests and differentiates between surface versus true confidence.

●India was the place that had the most impact on her. It is where she learned about yoga and meditation for the first time.
●The yogic science teaches about energy concentration and withdrawal and connecting to the true self.
Stepping into the Flow
●She learned and started practicing the teachings of Paramahansa Yogananda.
●Kimberly came back to the US three years later broke and still lost. She sublet a place and returned to teaching Yoga Asana and nutrition school.
●The Teachings of Paramahansa Yogananda helped her create something out of nothing.
●She started stepping into the flow upon creating her free WordPress blog. It spread out to New York City shortly after telling her yoga students about it.

●She co-wrote her third book “Radical Beauty” with Deepak Chopra. It was about Ayurveda and spirituality.
●The fifth book, "The Beauty Detox Power" was about the mind and body.
●"You Are More Than You Think You Are" is Kimberly’s full playbook. She signed the book deal three days after giving birth to her second son.

Tuning into Our Purpose
●You Are More Than You Think You Are is a guidebook. It teaches about practices, techniques, and teachings for creating in life.
●Connecting with the true self is the first step to finding our purpose.
●Thoughts can both be supportive and unsupportive. It goes back to our ego and how we think of ourselves.
●Wayne Dyer: 2% of who we are is the outer shell of looking and doing. The true self is our formless, stable, courageous, and infinitely creative part.
●The true self is the voice of our intuition, heart, and guts. Meanwhile, the ego is often fear-based and keeps us small and limited.
How to Connect With Our True Self
●We can connect with our true selves through stillness and coming back to our center.
●The solution is not at the same place as the problem. What is needed is to balance our time in outer doing and conduct practices of inner connection.
●Kimberly's Practical Enlightenment Meditation is only around 7 to 8 minutes. It allows you to turn inward, withdraw your senses, and connect in.
●It is a great idea to do journaling after a meditation session.
●Strengthening our dynamic allows us to gain greater flow and energy and get powerful at manifesting.
Discerning Between Ego and Intuition
●Ego is about pushing; living from intuition is like a river that is flowing.
●The ego is a trickster that creates fear and makes our thoughts unreliable. The one clear channel we can rely on is the body's wisdom.
●The true self is speaking when our body feels expansive; tightness and constriction mean we are aligning with the ego.
●It is critical to pause, make a shift, and recognize the feeling in our body when we are identifying with our ego. It is experiential.
Applying the Practices from the Book
●The actual application of the practices from the book is critical to experiencing an energy shift in your life.
●Kimberly's rock bottom period happened when she lost her mom to cancer and became a single mom shortly after.
●A monk from the Self-Realization Fellowship advised her to treat her home like an ashram for five months. She went deep into practicing teachings from ancient texts.
●Kimberly rose out of grief five months after. She developed a deep sense of trust and wholeness.
●Listen to the full episode to hear how Kimberly met her husband after connecting with her true self!
Dealing with Unsupportive People
●Setting boundaries is not about keeping out what we do not want. Energy is about keeping what we want.
●State your boundaries from a place of clarity while keeping the love and firmness in your voice. That way, the other person will know it’s a non-negotiable.
●Knowing the true self means knowing that you do not have to defend or explain yourself.
●People respond differently when you practice the power of autonomy. It also comes from a deep place of deserving.
Where Real Confidence Stems from
●The root of all confident issues goes back to identifying with the ego.
●Surface confidence is different from real confidence. Real confidence comes down to the statement: “I am what I am.”
●It’s about being confident for being alive and being a unique creation of spirit. Nothing can take this core part away from us.
●Our self-worth should come from this inner place. It creates a deep sense of naturalness and easefulness that draws people and harmony in.
How Kimberly Feels Radically Loved
●We all have different ideas of love that we form as children.
●Feeling radically loved is a heart-bursting, open, and unconditional love that comes from the practice of tuning in.
●It’s the radical understanding that we need to do nothing for love; we just need to be who we are.
●It’s a beautiful gift to find love just by being in the fullness of the moment.
●The world would become brighter and more connected if everyone had access to their inner peace.
5 Powerful Quotes
[09:59] “It's all around the central theme though, which is really connecting with the true self. So I think when people are searching for purpose, or they're trying to create what they want in their life, we need to talk about this.”

[11:31] "The thoughts that come from out here, the ego, are often fear-based, Rosie. They keep us small and limited. They tell us, it's trying to keep us safe, in a sense, the ego is, but a lot of it is based on limitation."

[16:34] "The ego is like a trickster. So it starts to put these fears in our minds. And then we start to say, oh, yeah, you know, I want to be meditating. But actually, I need to do like five more things on my to-do list or I could squeeze in these three emails, or whatever it is."

[26:11] “Remember that boundaries aren't about keeping out what we don't want…boundaries are to keep in what I want.”

[29:09] “The root issue of all these confidence issues goes back to, ‘Am I identifying with the ego, or am I identifying with the true self?’”

While it is nice to think that doing our best always results in positive feedback, that is not always the case. The reality is, hard work does not save us from receiving negative criticism. Often, hearing even just one negative feedback can undermine all the recognition and compliments we’ve received. But as with other things, balance is key to handling criticism. Ultimately, it is up to us whether to use it as a force to motivate us or bring us down.
In this episode, Rosie and Tessa talk about dealing with negative comments. They explain the impact of negative feedback and the reasons we feed off of it. They also discuss the importance of learning to weigh praises and criticisms. Furthermore, Rosie and Tessa share ways to handle negative feedback, and Rosie concludes the podcast with a short practice on reframing negativity!

●You become vulnerable to conspiracy theories when you’re seeking answers.
●It all comes down to the problem of discerning the truth.
●Being open creates more space for a bigger circle than being single-minded.
The Impact of Negative Feedback
●Rosie recorded new yoga classes for an online platform. She went onto the platform to make sure she wouldn’t be repeating her existing class’s sequences.
●She discovered people’s feedback when she clicked on the previous class she taught on the platform.
●Most of the comments were good, but two said that the class wasn’t for them.
●Rosie ended up going through her past classes to look for negative comments, even when most of the feedback was positive.
Weighing Both Praises and Criticisms
●Rosie couldn’t focus on the positive comments. All she could think of was the need to get people’s approval.
●It’s not your problem if somebody doesn’t like you. Don’t let people live rent-free in your life.
●Rosie let the negative comments live in her being for a week.
●Weigh your praise as much as you weigh your criticism.
Blocking People on Social Media
●Rosie has experienced blocking or responding to people on social media because of inappropriate attacks.
●It’s hard to grapple with the feeling that somebody can intentionally say something to hurt you under social media’s veil.
Going Down the Rabbit Hole of Negative Comments
●Searching for negativity is an instinctual self-preservation tool we have evolved over the years to keep us safe.
●It may also root from fear of rejection in terms of evolutionary survival.
●Knowing that the person is hurting you from their pain doesn't make their comments feel good.
●Weighing the positive and negative comments sometimes requires going down the rabbit hole.
●Tim Ferriss suggests putting positive feedback in a special box or folder to look at when you’re feeling down.
3 Ways to Handle Negative Feedback
●Ask clarifying questions instead of giving personal attacks any attention or energy.
●Allow yourself to process the emotions it brings up.
●Determine whether it’s constructive or destructive. Constructive is expansive; destructive is constricting.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
●EMDR is one of the most effective therapies for people dealing with trauma.
●It’s a form of psychotherapy where the person gets asked to recall a distressing image, and then the therapist directs the patient in a type of bilateral stimulation.
●EMDR stimulations give disembodied memories a place to go. It reconnects all the synapses in the brain.
●Negative triggers can take us into the negative cycle and pathology of the mind.
Putting Things in a Box
●Rosie’s therapist taught her to put things in a box energetically or mentally.
●You can either write negative comments and burn them, or do the opposite and create a positive comment box.
●You can ask five friends to say their five favorite things about you.
●Reading positive comments counteracts the negative spin we sometimes put ourselves in.
How to Practice EMDR
●EMDR is like Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) tapping. It’s something you can do by yourself.
●It’s similar to stretching the opposite leg and opposite arm when doing yoga posture on all fours.
●The process causes a neurological reset. It balances the left and right hemispheres of the brain.
●A trigger takes you into a visceral cellular memory reaction. The EMDR creates a new pathway where positive feelings get attached to the trigger.
●The process is like connecting dots. It happens gradually in a non-linear way instead of going from 0 to 100.
Being a Student and a Teacher
●Rosie is always looking for new ways of reframing old thought patterns and practicing self-inquiry.
●She loves learning and being a student. She also loves teaching the things she has learned.
●Learning something requires reading about it; knowing something requires writing about it. But mastering something requires teaching it.
Reframing Negativity
●Pratipaksha Bhavana: “May we continue to reframe negativity and choose responses that are helpful and uplifting.”
●Tune in to the full episode for a short practice on reframing negativity!
5 Powerful Quotes
[12:00]: “To go back to the human experience of what's that knee-jerk reaction that has this down the rabbit hole of looking for the out of the hundreds of positive comments that we get, what has us down the rabbit hole of searching out the negative one. And I think it's a very instinctual self-preservation tool that we have evolved with over the years to keep us safe.

[14:07]: “When I get positive feedback — this is something I heard Tim Ferriss suggest — if it's like a physical piece of paper or card somebody wrote you, [put] it in a special drawer or box or folder so that you can look at it when you're feeling down and you need that little extra boost, that reminder that yeah, you're valued.

[15:52]: (On negative criticisms): [Do] not give it the energy, just let it live on its own. Eventually, it'll die.

[18:40]: “Constructive is expansive, and destructive is constricting.”

[21:57]: “My therapist taught me to put things in a box. So you put it in the box energetically or mentally — however you want to do it — or you want to write down the negative comments, [...] you want to burn them up, go for it.

Fear is a natural and biological response to stressful events. Contrary to popular notion, feeling afraid can be very helpful. It can protect us from danger and ensure our survival. However, we sometimes fall into the rabbit hole of fixating on our unhealthy fears. It reels us into a dark space and hinders us from seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.

In this episode, Katie Silcox talks about the relevance of fear in our lives and its potential to help us with our growth. She also discusses our obsession with the trauma vortex and how it hinders us from moving into the healing vortex, where safety and security are present. Finally, she shares her thoughts about toxic positivity and how it differs from authentic love and light.
If you are on a spiritual journey to eliminate fear and trauma in your life, this episode is for you!

Episode Highlights
The Importance of Fear
●There is no concept of good or bad in the tantric cosmology of reality. There are only useful and unuseful ways toward our goals.
●We define our goals in life.
●Not all fears are unhealthy. Fear is a part of our physiology and has a purpose.
●Since yoga and meditation did not get to the roots of her fears, Katie spent five years understanding how the nervous system functions and unraveling trauma from it.
The Trauma and Healing Vortex
●The trauma vortex reels you into a dark space when you are about to see the light.
●The healing vortex allows us to feel safe and at ease. It happens when the body receives information through the 16 proprioceptive senses.
●Mass media keeps us in the trauma vortex. It shuts down our prefrontal cortex, preventing us from taking in new information.
●Feed yourself information that conveys truth.
Fear Porn
●Having an unhealthy relationship with our phones leads us to live in a state of fear.
●We sometimes try to outdo the tragic situation of another person. Rosie calls this “tragedy porn.”
●Mass media made us desensitized and overstimulated in all facets of our lives.
Satiate Your Ancestors
●Satiate yourself by satiating your ancestors.
●Our circumstances are not unique to us. It’s a seven-generation experience that wasn't realized. Listen to the full episode to hear how this was confirmed by a mice experiment!
●We live in a time of abundance, yet we still carry the original trauma of our ancestors.
●Focusing on what’s wrong around us is embedded deeper into our neurophysiology, and it rewires our ancient trauma.
●We are hyper-aware of society’s problems because of mass media. But it has also hyperpolarized us to the point where we’re afraid of speaking.
Othering
●Othering is the first sign that you entered the trauma vortex. It refers to separating yourself from others.
●Listen and sit down with people to end this destructive practice.
●The moment we commit othering, we start to build walls between ourselves and others.
Toxic Positivity
●We focus on trauma rather than healing. This frame of mind was helpful to our ancestors in the wild, but it doesn’t help us now.
●Real love and light can hold an infinite amount of trauma. They will not repress negative emotions, but they will not linger long enough into them.
●Some lash out at others or deny feeling the pain during adversities. Listen to the episode to hear how Katie compares these feelings to the eastern and western dragon!
●Feel your emotions, and if it gets scary, look for a medium.
●Many are not suffering from toxic positivity, but are going through an unhealthy recapitalization of an old, limited version of themselves.
Digesting Your Emotional Experience
●Denying ourselves of fragility and emotions can cause disease and sickness.
●Digesting your emotions also involves its elimination.
●Avoiding information and people that disturb your mind helps prevent disease.
●People are meant to be together, not in isolation.
Creating Boundaries on Mass Media
●We easily get scared of things that disturb our minds.
●Decide what you want your life to be.
●If you’re a lightworker, take care of what you put into your body. Look after your physical, mental, and emotional being.
●Protect the light you’ve been cultivating.
Katie Feeling Radically Loved
●Katie feels radically loved when she feels at ease and when she could surrender to not figuring it all out.
●When you let go of your egoic willpower and let the higher matrix of support come in, you will feel loved.
●Religious people think about hell, but spiritual people have been through it.
●Love is present when you let go of your ego and step closer to God.
5 Powerful Quotes from This Episode
[04:06] “There's no good or bad in the tantric cosmology of reality. There's just what's useful and what's not useful to get you towards your goal.”
[13:17] “[Y]ou begin to realize that we think that we are living these individual egoic experiences, especially in the Western psychology. But what we're actually experiencing is seven generations of experience that hasn't been able to digest itself.”
[22:16] “Real love and light can hold infinite amounts of trauma.”
[23:02] “What we're being invited to do is hold this loving presence around whatever is arising within the chaotic wild feminine of the experience.”
[37:56] “Religious people think about hell, spiritual people have been through it. When you've been through it and come out the other side and felt that love because of maybe how low you went. To be back in that state requires one thing and that is: I'm going to take one step to God.”

Episode Highlights
Speaking With Spirit
●Agapi’s new book is called Speaking With Spirit: 52 Prayers to Guide, Inspire, and Uplift You. She wrote the book during the pandemic.
●As a person who thrives in heart, joy, and connection, living in lockdown was like being in exile for Agapi.
●Prayer and the aliveness of connecting with spirit is not a theory. We get called in to practice all the time, not just on special occasions.
●Tune in to the episode to hear excerpts of some affirmative quotes from her book!
●The spirit will feel like our next breath if we quiet the mind and come into presence.
Finding Your Rhythm
●Agapi’s number one spiritual teacher was her mother.
●Her mother had a rhythm of eternity; nothing could rush her. She never allowed herself to get caught up in other people's rhythms.
●Her sister is an AAA type who achieves and simultaneously does many things.
●Agapi is a lover and entertainer who likes creating connections with other people.
●The world’s demands keep us off our rhythm and vibration. Disconnecting from worldly pressure takes incredible courage.
Getting to the Spirit
●Agapi wrote the book to give people permission to acknowledge that they are loved exactly as they are.
●We don’t need to prove our values to other people and to our spirit.
●You need to stop, ask, and listen to get to the spirit.
●Listen to the full episode to hear a hilarious story about a monk who wanted to serve God!
On Betraying the Moments
●We end up going to bed empty and depleted when we betray the moments.
●We often turn to our phones to get some simulation. What we should do instead is turn them off and do something we love to cheer us up.
●Reading books and listening to her favorite pop music are some of Agapi's preferred uplifting activities.
How to Come into the Awakened Moment
●Pick up a pen and something to write on. Then, write down your prayers.
●Drafting your prayers steers us into a vulnerable moment. Reciting devotion wires the brain into a mindset that you’re not alone.
●The creation of our physical bodies remains unknown. The mystery entitles us to refer to ourselves as the miracle of life
●It requires a certain trust to open up to your miraculousness. Faith requires you to do something without knowing what’s ahead.
Finding Comfort and Grace in the Loss of a Loved One
●Listen to the episode to hear Rosie’s heartfelt story about how the book’s prayer consoled her after her father’s heart attack!
●Sometimes, there are no words to say to someone going through grief or loss. Give them love, compassion, and a safe space to cry.
●Rosie gained the courage and comfort she needed to get through it by reading a passage from the book.
●The uncertainty of a life-and-death situation calls for the spirit to come in and hold our hands.
●The more we learn to ask, receive, and recognize that we’re not alone, the more we can pass it on.
Inviting the Spirit In
●For Agapi, not having the connection she needed while writing the book was like cutting off her lifeforce.
●She found the lifeforce back inside. She had to comfort herself and bring little things to make her day better.
●When writing the book, she sought direction, guidance, and support from within.
●Agapi found the gift as she proceeded with new chapters and prayers.
●She wants to pass on the gift while also practicing it herself.
Our Inner Master
●Agapi sometimes can’t believe that she wrote her book whenever she reads it.
●Our inner master is the part of us that knows how to do things.
●The masterful part of ourselves is compassionate, strong, calm, and still. It’s the “I am”, also known as the God within.
●The more we practice our masterful selves, the more it rises. Then, we have to bring it to others.
Rekindle Your Enthusiasm Prayer
●Every day, as soon as we wake up, it is important that we renew ourselves.
●Tune in to the full podcast to listen as Agapi guides us through a short prayer!
●Affirmation: “God is my partner.”
●Stay resilient. Open up, and trust your spirit.
●Write down your prayers, wants, and things you want to let go of. Let the spirit speak to you.
Spiritual Guidance
●Agapi shares quick fixes for spiritual guidance in the book.
●Call the spirit forward in the middle of bad news or anything happening. Don’t delay it.
●The more each of us calls the spirit forward, the more we activate it — the more it grows.
Be Part of the Family
●Her guided meditations will be published on Audible.
●Unbinding The Heart, her third book, reveals the beginning of her spiritual journey.
●Agapi reminds us that the Radically Love family is here for all of us.
●Lastly, she encourages us to join and indulge in family fun.

Falling in love is undoubtedly one of the best feelings in the world. It makes our heart flutter and the butterflies in our stomachs dance in joy. ●This conversation stemmed from Rosie’s podcast interview with Sheri Salata.
●Tessa always thinks back to the four locks and keys in Yoga Sutra when talking about this topic.
●Comparison can either be a source of inspiration or something that can stop us in our tracks.
How Soon is Too Soon to Say “I Love You”
●The main topic for this episode is the overarching theme of falling in love
●A question from a listener: How do you respond to someone wholeheartedly saying they love you when you don’t feel the same way romantically?
●OkCupid surveyed 6000 people on the question of how soon is too soon to say "I love you."
●62% think you should say it as soon as you feel it. 22% say you should wait several months, while 3% say you should wait at least a year.
●The typical range is about three months.
How to Respond to a Confession When You Don’t Feel the Same Way
●Tessa has never had the situation happen to her. She thinks it’s best to approach it like a compliment and say thank you.
●Rosie has experienced this situation before. A friend confessed to her wanting to be in a romantic relationship, but she didn't feel the same way.
●That friend tried to push the idea to Rosie, even with Torry in the picture. She turned him down on several occasions and created space between them.
●A spiritual counselor asked Rosie if she was keeping that friend as a way of ego feeding.
●Rosie suggests being honest and creating a clear boundary.
Creating an Asymmetrical Relationship
●It’s hard to maintain a deep friendship with someone in love with you.
●It’s a selfish endeavor not to create boundaries with someone you don’t feel the same way romantically. It creates an asymmetrical relationship.
●An asymmetrical friendship is when only one person gets the buck of energy fill.
How to Come from a Place of Honesty and Kindness
●Laying down romantic feelings and the vulnerability that comes with it is a sensitive subject.
●It’s not easy to turn someone down in a way that remains kind and loving.
●Tessa: Have the other person clarify what they mean by their "I love you." Acknowledge it, give appreciation, and explain you don't feel the same kind of love.
●Rosie is more of the type to close the door immediately. She doesn't want to lead anybody on.
Tessa’s Puppy Love Experience
●Tessa was in a long-term monogamous relationship for six years when she was 16.
●Her parents were worried about it and had a serious talk with her. Tune in to the full episode to hear more about her parents' reaction to her puppy love.
Tessa’s Love Story
●Tessa and her current partner Jorge have been together for over a decade. They met in college in Oregon.
●Tessa swooned over aura when he served her and her friend at the restaurant he worked at. He was from Mexico and still had a thick accent when they first met.
●They ended up meeting on campus again and started seeing each other more often and going Salsa dancing together. But they were with other people at the time.
●Tessa found out he was living with his girlfriend’s parents at the time. They were his host family as an exchange student, so Tessa didn’t want to compromise.
●Jorge would say Tessa was just his English tutor, but his actions said otherwise. They eventually got together after the other people in the picture fell away.
Love in a Long-Term Adult Relationship
●Tessa said they said "I love you" within the three to the six-month mark of their relationship.
●Energy and excitement always fill Tessa every time she retells their love story.
●Tessa realized over the years that she chose a good partner. They have had ups and downs, but she couldn’t pick a better partner.
●Rosie agrees that Tessa and Jorge complement each other very well.
●Meanwhile, Rosie shares her love story at length in her book. She says she must have done something right in the past life to deserve Torry.
Powerful Quotes
“I would do my best to say something along the lines of, I care a lot about you. You mean a lot to me. I don't feel ready to say ‘I love you’ yet, at least not in that the way that I think you mean it.”
“I think there's a difference here. And this is very much under the umbrella of falling in love the difference between being an adult relationship and puppy love.”
“If you're not corresponding, it's almost once the relationship crosses that threshold unless there are very, very clear boundaries, it's kind of hard to go back. And then at that point, subconsciously, the mind is just wanting to keep that person around, to sort of feed that part of you that likes that attention.”

Episode Highlights
Sheri’s Secret Sauce
●Sheri has a knack for gathering a group of people to do things as a group. She also mentions that she could herd kittens.
●When she was younger, she wasn’t picky about her jobs and took them one after another. She was determined to find a job that could provide stability for her retirement.
●Sheri wasn’t finding meaning in what she did, wasting her devotion on jobs bereft of purpose to her.
●Although she felt miserable after trying out multiple jobs, she still persevered. She later found her purpose in her life and applied that to her job search.
The Time to Try New Things
●The feeling that you are sacrificing your life for a paycheck could indirectly hint that you should try finding meaning elsewhere.
●When Sheri became an entrepreneur at 56, she first experienced what it felt like to enjoy a job.
●Another lesson Sheri taught us was to take risks. Searching for your true passion is a process of trial and error.
●She advises others to try entrepreneurship. Alternatively, work for a startup company to observe the empowerment that comes with being an entrepreneur.
Making the Right Decision
●There are different kinds of decisions in life. A governing decision is the most powerful decision that sets a framework for your life.
●Sheri urges us to be decisive. It doesn't need to be a good decision at that moment — the mistakes of today help your judgment tomorrow.
●When you’re deciding, ask yourself whether you would feel good about it. If it feels good, you are encouraged to proceed. You can always change course later.
●Your slippery character is the part of you that stops change. The fear of an unknown future prevents you from finding meaning elsewhere.
●Talk to your slippery character. Though it may simply want to protect you, help yourself understand that you can make a positive change in your life.
Matching Energies
●To reach a dream, match the good feeling. Manage your mood and thoughts to approach the actions positively instead of negatively.
●What often gets in the way is starting to think of the ways it's going to go wrong. Fear shifts your energy from matching the dream to repelling it.
Stopping Comparisons
●Sometimes you might feel inferior when comparing yourself with others.
●Look at your comparisons as a treasure hunt. Learn from others that you like and learn to apply their methods in your pursuit of success.
●Match your positive and encouraging energy with your dreams and manifest them through practice.
●Be more conscious of what you are practicing. Take control and focus on good practices that can help you.
Finding Meaning In Her Work
●Sheri was 35 years old when she started working at the Oprah Winfrey Show in an entry-level work position.
●She began finding meaning in her job as she took notes on all the spiritual experts, teachers, and leaders she met.
●That job was where Sheri found the quantum. She started cultivating a spiritual life and connected with the universe.
●Even until now, she continues to look for portals of opportunity. She evaluates her drawbacks and looks for ways to improve and become a better person.
●When Sheri reflects on her constructive transformations and retains her energy, she rises and grows. Transformational conversations pushed her into finding meaning.
Sharing Stories
●There is an empowering element in taking ownership of your own experiences and genuinely sharing them.
●During her book tour, Sheri realized that sharing her stories helped in her healing process.
●Sheri noticed that her audience and readers shared their stories as well. Essentially, she believed that the exchange helped them make amends with their inner wounds.
●The overall experience helped her audience recognize their potential and the abundant possibilities they could explore.
●Every story has an impact on its respective readers. We can find good value and lessons in any story.
Sheri’s Favorite Things to Do
●Last January, she launched a course called "Write Your Story, Transform Your Life," where she spends weeks of deep transformation with others.
●Sheri enjoys inviting people to her masterclasses and workshops organized by her private membership group called "The Support System."
●A vacation to Italy is what she began doing to reward herself.
●Whenever she does her favorite things, she notices herself blossoming into a better person. Ultimately, she has found ease in her current life.
Desired Takeaways for Sheri’s Book Tours
●Sheri hopes that she conveys as much learning as possible from her experiences, hoping it would inspire her audience to seek positive change.
●She also hopes she delivers her message and experience to her audience properly.
●After each event, she thinks about what she got from it and what she gave back.
How Sheri Experiences Radical Love
●Over the last three or four years, Sheri learned what it truly means to love herself.
●Being kind to and counting on herself forges another level of self-love that only she could give. No one in the world will love her more than she loves herself.
●Sheri loves animals and desires to help rescue animals and farm sanctuaries. It would be better if she were to take care of a huge group of rescued animals.
●She states that we are in a co-beneficial relationship with other sentient beings on Earth. This is why she chooses to be a shepherd who cares for them.
5 Powerful Quotes
[6:56] “Lean into happy, lean into what feels good. Quit trying to push the boulder up the hill and make the wrong relationships work, the wrong jobs work.”
[14:40] “We're just in decision paralysis. Anytime you feel yourself in that place, take that really seriously, because it means you are delaying a magnificent future. You're delaying change, good change.”
[19:34] “I needed to look at [comparison] as a little treasure hunt where I literally am out in the world going, ‘I want some of that.’ so I could stop comparing myself. Comparison is the death of dreams.”
[27:52] “I'm willing to own my experiences, and I share them vulnerably because, first of all, just speaking those words, and those stories heal me.”
