Hello Friends, I’m Rosie Acosta. I am a Meditation Teacher; Speaker and Author of You Are Radically Loved: A healing journey to self-love. I grew up in East Los Angeles during the 92 La Riots and it set me on a troubled path for many years. I didn’t grow up with mentors in my life, so I turned to reading as many books as I possibly could to learn about life’s purpose. In my journey as a First Gen-Mexican American, I found having these conversations gave me insight, support, and inspiration. So, I decided to create a place where I could share these conversations with my community. The Radically Loved Podcast was born! How do we create a radically loved life? ●My Broken Language is a memoir of Quiara’s early childhood to the moment she came of age as an adult woman.

Concealing Chaos
●Quiara felt that there was a design to the suburbs that concealed the natural chaos of life. She knew that life wasn’t about order.
●She had moments wherein she was lost in herself. During these times, she flowed with the pandemonium of life.
●The suffering of her family on her mother’s side emulated a real and honest human experience, which was facing life and death.
●Her family perceived their bodies as a “church”. No matter where or how they live, they live genuinely with their own church.
Chaos as a Part of Life
●Experiencing life is like art. The experience comprises calm and beauty, as well as chaos.
●The energy of life either can be tranquil or intense as the tsunami.
●Having both serenity and extremity in your life gives you a fully saturated experience. Quiara recommends trying to harness the energy that comes from it.
●She learned this from her mother as she found her path to be crowned as a priestess.
●With natural energy, you can see the different forces of nature at work—both the beautiful and the terrifying.
Writing Her Memoir
●Quiara started writing her memoir at the end of 2019.
●Similar to Quiara, many writers worry about the accuracy of their memories Despite not remembering the details of her childhood, she remembers the feeling of the moment.
●Writing her memoir was not about listing events in her life, but narrating her growth throughout those years.
●She was protective when writing about her loved ones but was more critical about herself. It allowed her to understand herself in carrying through her life.
●The book was also a way for her to bring awareness to social issues surrounding her family.
Reading the Completed Book
●Reading it aloud on Audiobook made her appreciate all the voice actors who brought her book to life.
●A scene in her book that stuck with her is a moment in 1995 when her class was talking about welfare queens.
●During that time, she felt angry about the situation. Reading it in her book brought back the unpleasant feelings.
Connecting Through Stories
●Rosie shares her own similar experience of hate and racism in the grocery store with her abuelita.
●The starting quote of her book is about how words have magic and power. Quiara’s story made Rosie feel seen.
●You can’t confine yourself in a box. For many, identity and labeling are elements that shouldn’t be limited.
●Quiara found freedom in her varying cultures. She realized didn’t have to fit into certain standards as her own person.
Quiara’s Spiritual Journey
●Quiara’s faith is earth-based and body-based. She inherited this from the Puerto Rican culture and practices.
●She watched her sister giving birth to her own child. For her, the experience channels different energy than giving birth herself.
●Despite being in different places, they came together to help her sister go through labor.
●That moment of coming together in their church felt sacred to Quiara.
Body and Spirit
●Quiara thinks that America is a very disembodied nation in a spiritual and philosophical sense.
●The nation is very mind-driven and tends to surrender its body and spirit. This can be unhealthy
●Her sister’s experience at a birth center gave her a new view on consent, especially in medical practice.
●People should pay more attention to consent in medicine. The power of your voice is often underestimated.
●Don’t lock your emotions into your body. Even in a disembodied society, embodiment through movement is important
The Importance of Embodiment
●Words can often be inadequate to a physical form of processing.
●Social media reduces relationships to words. It lacks the vibe and spirit that are integral parts of relationships.
●Her mother’s spiritual practice involved the use of drums. Quiara started to feel her spiritual connection through the drum beatings and dancing.
●The drum is the voice or heart within you. The body and our movement are physical manifestations of the drum.

●Tessa has seen many people reach their goals and gain monetary success but do not seem happier.
●When people reach a certain level of success, they are left with questions of “What’s next?” or “What’s left?”

The Catalyst for Kimberly’s Story
●Kimberly shared her struggle in finding out what she wanted to do after college in the first chapter of her book.

Tuning into Our Purpose

●Thoughts can both be supportive and unsupportive. It goes back to our ego and how we think of ourselves.
●Wayne Dyer: 2% of who we are is the outer shell of looking and doing. The true self is our formless, stable, courageous, and infinitely creative part.

How to Connect With Our True Self
●We can connect with our true selves through stillness and coming back to our center.
●The solution is not at the same place as the problem. What is needed is to balance our time in outer doing and conduct practices of inner connection.
●Kimberly's Practical Enlightenment Meditation is only around 7 to 8 minutes. It allows you to turn inward, withdraw your senses, and connect in.
●It is a great idea to do journaling after a meditation session.
●Strengthening our dynamic allows us to gain greater flow and energy and get powerful at manifesting.
Discerning Between Ego and Intuition
●Ego is about pushing; living from intuition is like a river that is flowing.
●The ego is a trickster that creates fear and makes our thoughts unreliable. The one clear channel we can rely on is the body's wisdom.
●The true self is speaking when our body feels expansive; tightness and constriction mean we are aligning with the ego.
●It is critical to pause, make a shift, and recognize the feeling in our body when we are identifying with our ego. It is experiential.
Applying the Practices from the Book
●The actual application of the practices from the book is critical to experiencing an energy shift in your life.
●Kimberly's rock bottom period happened when she lost her mom to cancer and became a single mom shortly after.
●A monk from the Self-Realization Fellowship advised her to treat her home like an ashram for five months. She went deep into practicing teachings from ancient texts.
●Kimberly rose out of grief five months after. She developed a deep sense of trust and wholeness.

Dealing with Unsupportive People
●Setting boundaries is not about keeping out what we do not want. Energy is about keeping what we want.
●State your boundaries from a place of clarity while keeping the love and firmness in your voice. That way, the other person will know it’s a non-negotiable.
●Knowing the true self means knowing that you do not have to defend or explain yourself.
●People respond differently when you practice the power of autonomy. It also comes from a deep place of deserving.
Where Real Confidence Stems from
●The root of all confident issues goes back to identifying with the ego.
●Surface confidence is different from real confidence. Real confidence comes down to the statement: “I am what I am.”
●It’s about being confident for being alive and being a unique creation of spirit. Nothing can take this core part away from us.
●Our self-worth should come from this inner place. It creates a deep sense of naturalness and easefulness that draws people and harmony in.

●We all have different ideas of love that we form as children.
●Feeling radically loved is a heart-bursting, open, and unconditional love that comes from the practice of tuning in.
●It’s the radical understanding that we need to do nothing for love; we just need to be who we are.
●It’s a beautiful gift to find love just by being in the fullness of the moment.
●The world would become brighter and more connected if everyone had access to their inner peace.

While it is nice to think that doing our best always results in positive feedback, that is not always the case. The reality is, hard work does not save us from receiving negative criticism. Often, hearing even just one negative feedback can undermine all the recognition and compliments we’ve received. But as with other things, balance is key to handling criticism. Ultimately, it is up to us whether to use it as a force to motivate us or bring us down.
In this episode, Rosie and Tessa talk about dealing with negative comments. They explain the impact of negative feedback and the reasons we feed off of it. On Conspiracies
●People often go into the well of misinformation because they get addicted to the serotonin of discovery.
●You become vulnerable to conspiracy theories when you’re seeking answers.
●It all comes down to the problem of discerning the truth.

The Impact of Negative Feedback
●Rosie recorded new yoga classes for an online platform. She went onto the platform to make sure she wouldn’t be repeating her existing class’s sequences.
●She discovered people’s feedback when she clicked on the previous class she taught on the platform.
●Most of the comments were good, but two said that the class wasn’t for them.
●Rosie ended up going through her past classes to look for negative comments, even when most of the feedback was positive.
Weighing Both Praises and Criticisms
●Rosie couldn’t focus on the positive comments. All she could think of was the need to get people’s approval.
●It’s not your problem if somebody doesn’t like you. Don’t let people live rent-free in your life.
●Rosie let the negative comments live in her being for a week.
●Weigh your praise as much as you weigh your criticism.
Blocking People on Social Media
●Rosie has experienced blocking or responding to people on social media because of inappropriate attacks.

●You can either write negative comments and burn them, or do the opposite and create a positive comment box.

How to Practice EMDR
●EMDR is like Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) tapping. It’s something you can do by yourself.
●It’s similar to stretching the opposite leg and opposite arm when doing yoga posture on all fours.
●The process causes a neurological reset. It balances the left and right hemispheres of the brain.
●A trigger takes you into a visceral cellular memory reaction. The EMDR creates a new pathway where positive feelings get attached to the trigger.
●The process is like connecting dots. It happens gradually in a non-linear way instead of going from 0 to 100.
Being a Student and a Teacher

●Tessa and her current partner Jorge have been together for over a decade. They met in college in Oregon.

●They ended up meeting on campus again and started seeing each other more often and going Salsa dancing together. But they were with other people at the time.

●To reach a dream, match the good feeling. Manage your mood and thoughts to approach the actions positively instead of negatively.
●What often gets in the way is starting to think of the ways it's going to go wrong. Fear shifts your energy from matching the dream to repelling it.
