Radically Loved® with Rosie Acosta

Hi I’m Rosie Acosta. I am a Meditation Teacher; Speaker and Author of You Are Radically Loved: A healing journey to self-love. I grew up in East Los Angeles during the 92 La Riots and it set me on a troubled path for many years. I didn’t grow up with mentors in my life, so I turned to reading as many books as I possibly could to learn about life’s purpose. In my journey as a First Gen-Mexican American, I found having these conversations gave me insight, support, and inspiration. So, I decided to create a place where I could share these conversations with my community. The Radically Loved Podcast was born! How do we create a radically loved life? Come have a sit with me so we can discover all things mindfulness, spirituality, self-love, and overall healthy living. Please be sure to share the episodes that you love and also leave us a review!

Alex Doman is a leader in brain health, neurotechnology, and therapeutic music.

After meeting at PowerfulU, I knew Alex had to share his vast knowledge on the mind with all of you. In this episode, we talk about how our brain is wired for sound and how it changes our brain chemistry.

Radically Vibrant Alex

  • I am the third generation in my family to study the brain and how we can move past our own limitations
  • I still struggle with meditation, despite knowing everything that I do
  • In my relationship, we each give each other permission to be ourselves and to be patient with each other when doing so

Radically Inspired Clarity

  • Our current environment is creating adverse situations for our brain and it’s making it harder for us to be in a healthy mental space
  • We can shift our drug of choice from sugar to exercise, stimulants to meditation, etc.
  • When we find a place of homeostasis in ourselves we are ready to live a different version of our lives

Alex Answers…

  • When did you discover how sound affects our brain?
  • What was the most important lesson your grandfather, the first in your family to study the brain, taught you?
  • Are our limitations environmental or chemical?

Radically Loved Quotes

“Movement and sound integrate in our lives from the very beginning.”

“What’s going on in our world right now can be improved by active listening and brain contact.”

“All music is good and all music serves its purpose for each of us in its own way in a particular moment.”

More About Our Guest

Alex is the founder of Advanced Brain Technologies, a TedX speaker, author, and creator of the most innovative music program to optimize human performance. Monica Berg is a Change Junkie. As the CCO of The Kabbalah Centre, her life mission is to help people improve their lives by giving them the wisdom to change their internal reality.

In this episode, we talk about the fear that surrounds change and how to shift our perspective on it so that we can embrace, thrive, and enjoy it.

Radically Vibrant Monica

  • I think the reason we are averse to change is because when things change that we don’t want to change, it’s a bad change
  • I still ask myself daily, “Does this make me happy?”—if I’m not fulfilled and inspired, then I give myself to seek something else
  • I can change what I think at any given time and I’m not stuck in any limiting thought patterns

Radically Inspired Clarity

  • We tend to think that material things will make us happy, but at some point we wake up and still feel that lack of
  • By creating ideals for ourselves, like “I am a marathon runner”, we put ourselves in box created by our ego
  • If our internal is not ruled by external stimulus, we aren’t impatient with the universe and we feel supported and fulfilled

Monica Answers…

  • Do we have to change our entire lives when we’re not happy or can we just change one small thing?
  • What’s your opinion of our fast-paced world and how we can keep integrating patience into our daily lives?
  • What’s the biggest lesson that you’ve learned this far in your life?

Radically Loved Quotes

“You have to ask yourself, what is holding me back from making the change?

“It’s important to give yourself emotional feedback each and everyday.”

“If we don’t get stuck on any one thing, we can be so many things.”

In this episode, we talk about what inspired him, what impact he looks forward to making through his artwork, and his biggest lessons.

Radically Vibrant Ruben

  • My “Why” has yet to change–it has always been the idea of, “Who will you be?”
  • I use language within my pieces so that people can fully understand them
  • Giving time in my life is how I choose to show love

Radically Inspired Clarity

  • Love doesn’t hide, it’s always there
  • Be mindful to the words that you use, and know that it’s okay to feel human every now and then and slip up and say hurtful words to yourself—but don’t let that become your life
  • Respect what you’re trying to build and pivot your life so that it allows for you to do what you love

Ruben Answers…

  • Has your why evolved from when you initially started to today?
  • How do you use language in your work and everyday life?
  • How do you practice love in your life?

Radically Loved Quotes

“Everything we can be is already inside of us, it’s a matter of how we choose to apply it.”

“There’s a lot of passionate people on the planet but that doesn’t mean they’re moving with purpose.”

“We are all, innately, doing the best that we can.”

Stef Sifandos is the true vision of what a conscious man should be. Through his own transformation, he developed a deep understanding of relationships and realized he had to move from selfishness to selfish-selflessness.

In this episode, we talk about mental patterns, rituals, and relationships and I’m so excited for you to hear all of the wisdom nuggets that he left for us.

Radically Vibrant Stef

  • Even I can fall into the trap of focusing on what is lacking in my life and I have to wake myself up and take moments to really see what beauty is my life
  • Grounding for me is coming from a place where I’m not reactive, I’m responsive
  • I can not change or shift anyone until they are willing and ready to shift

Radically Inspired Clarity

  • What underpins a conscious relationship is knowing the blue sky is always there, even when there are thunderstorms
  • When we ask ourselves, “Is this pain going to be here forever” we’re asking from a wounded space
  • Our environment is what keeps us from reaching new levels of elevation and finding our happiness

Stef Answers…

  • What is a conscious relationship and how have you cultivated that in your personal life and in business?
  • What blocks us from elevating ourselves?
  • What is your morning ritual?

Radically Loved Quotes

“It’s access to knowing that we are consistently free and it’s our minds that trap us.”

“Being grounded is being able to responsive.”

“Even with friends, we have to respect the other person’s sovereignty and individuality.”

Liana Werner Gray is an author and advocate for healthy diets and lifestyles.

Her inspiration comes from her addiction to junk food that led to her cancer diagnosis. In today’s episode I talk to my newest bestie about handling the relationship between emotion and food, the top five cancer fighting foods, and what mindset we need to live a healthy life.

Radically Vibrant Liana

  • When my grandfather died from cancer, I compared his diet and lifestyle to that of the aboriginal children I went to school with and I realized what a huge difference there was and why my grandfather had suffered from sickness and disease
  • After my cancer diagnosis, I drank six vegetable juices a day to detox and boost the vitamin and mineral levels in my body
  • I used affirmations like, “I deserve to heal.” “I am healing.” “I am getting healthier every day.” to heal myself

Radically Inspired Clarity

  • When we have sicknesses or diseases, we need to heal from deeply within not just externally
  • To change your diet, take a step-by-step approach—what’s the first thing you can do to help yourself?
  • Glucoraphanin is the number one cancer fighting compound found in broccoli sprouts, kale, spinach, and bok choy

Liana Answers…

  • What can you tell somebody that will make them explore a healthier way of living?
  • What top five foods should we avoid?
  • How does mindset affect our path to healing?

Radically Loved Quotes

“If you want moderation, eat natural sugars in moderation. I don’t want to see anymore people suffer from cancer or other health issues because of this toxic substance proven to be more addictive than cocaine.”

“Overrule your mindset with positive, healing thoughts over anything negative that will bring your immune system down.”

“It is said that 70% of all cancers are due to diet. If that’s true, we have the power in our hands to reduce the cancer statistics in the world and live happy, healthy lives.”

Christine Hassler is a personal and life coach. She chose to have a quarter-life crisis at twenty-five that pushed her to find her definition of success and become the version of herself living at her highest potential.

In this episode, Christine drops enlightened knowledge on me about how to move through a life crisis, how long it takes to break out of hurtful, subconscious thought patterns, and how she knew she found her life partner.

Radically Vibrant Christine

  • I was so fearful of not being loved or liked that I became a people pleaser, I had to question where this fear came from, did the work to shift out of that pattern, and became free
  • What characteristics I’m attracted to in others are unknown, unseen qualities in myself
  • I accept that my family isn’t going to change and they may never truly know or see me—and that’s okay

Radically Inspired Clarity

  • We need to be willing to feel, deal, and heal the stuff from our past still haunting us and impacting what we can create in our future
  • Self care and self love practices are two different things—self care is drinking green juice and self love is becoming the most loving parent to yourself
  • We will continue to date our issues until we deal with them

Christine Answers…

  • Why are we assholes to ourselves (all the time!)?
  • How often should we be in a state of self inquiry?
  • Who has been the greatest teacher in your life?

Radically Loved Quotes

“Getting forgiveness from someone doesn’t require their participation. It’s about an inside job.”

“True self love is shifting the relationship inside of yourself such that you become the most amazing, loving parent to yourself.

“It’s important to ask ourselves, What is the strongest story we have in our head?”

Gary John Bishop is the New York Times best selling author of Unfuck Yourself: Get Out Of Your Head and Into Your Life. His grit and wit has contributed to his tough love approach to personal development.

In this episode, Gary gives us the no bullshit tools we can use to take control of our lives and improve our day to day.

Radically Vibrant Gary

  • When I wrote my book, I wanted people to read it and wake up...and think I was an asshole
  • I was always, and am still, triggered by the thought that “life is a struggle” but when I started to focus away from it I created financial prosperity for myself
  • I’m not a good register for how I’m doing—

Radically Inspired Clarity

  • To get out of a victim mentality you need to figure out what triggers you to feel victimized and stop hanging on to it
  • Ask yourself—what ways is my past still shaping my potential?
  • When there are bumps in the road of a relationship, you need to transform it by having a conversation with the other person

Gary Answers…

  • Where were you mentally when you decided you needed to write this book, in this way?
  • Where’s the line between living in the past and ignoring it?
  • What are your daily practices that contribute to your conscious awareness?

Radically Loved Quotes

“You have a say in where you locate your past within yourself. You have a say where you place that within you. You get to choose how that plays out in your consciousness.”

“The past is nothing more than a conversation you’re having with yourself.”

“I can build wealth without the experience of struggle.”

Alyson Charles is the Rockstar Shaman. She’s a television host, speaker, and spiritual teacher. After years of pushing her truth away, she chose to align with her calling as a mystic and shamanic practitioner.

In this episode, we talk about the traumatic event that guided Alyson towards her purpose and how it was a moment of pure connection to source. She explains how she used that moment to catalyze her life to be what it is today.

Radically Vibrant Alyson

  • The scariest and most miraculous moment of my life were the same—I was connected to source and I had daily awakenings that changed my life
  • I knew I had to start the process of preparing and clearing myself to get ready for a great awakening
  • When you try to find the Shaman for you—listen to them, read their writing, and ask friends who have had empowered Shamanic experiences

Radically Inspired Clarity

  • When we deny messages and signs, they culminate to traumatic events and bad health
  • Surrendering to a divine intervention isn’t a sign of weakness—it’s a moment of controlling your future and choosing your wellbeing and happiness
  • Each Shaman has varying rituals and ceremonies but at our core we are all divine instruments

Alyson Answers…

  • How did you become a “Rockstar Shaman”?
  • What would you tell somebody who is “putting a cork over their gifts” and wants to release the gifts they feel?
  • What was the first steps you took to align yourself to the path of a Shaman?

Radically Loved Quotes

“People think surrendering means giving up, but it’s the opposite. You’re tapping into the greatest courage, strength, and vulnerability possible.”

“I felt an energetic blast and it blasted off my egoic shell that I’d lived in my whole life. In one moment, I became awake.”

“There was an aspect of me that knew this level of pain and suffering couldn’t be what life was all about.”

Steve Griffith is the Director and Founder of Sukhavati Ayurvedic Retreat and Spa. He has studied yoga and meditation since the 70’s and is a long term student of The Beatles meditation teacher, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.

I sat down with Steve in Bali, talking about the importance of feeling radical love, how to be present, and how to tap into our purpose through intent.

Radically Vibrant Steve

  • We have to break through the conditioning that created an unconscious habit of thought patterns that no longer serve us
  • We never totally revert back to our old patterns once we created new habits, we just have moments where we temporarily fall back into the pattern
  • Being solution minded is a mindset that looks for an answer to a problem instead of placing blame for the problem or giving in to a false reality

Radically Inspired Clarity

  • Each time we think about a negative event, we trigger the same chemical response and the stress continues past the actual event
  • Our addictions, habits, and routines hardwire our brain into a neurological pattern that keep us in the past and remove us from having new intentions and thoughts
  • We create our story in our mind and then we walk into it just as a director creates a movie

Steve Answers…

  • Why did you create the Sukhavati Ayurvedic Retreat?
  • Does it take more than intention to change our minds?
  • What is your perspective on the amount of consumption we are intaking and...are we doomed?!

Radically Loved Quotes

“Everyone of us has this great gift of being a human, and being a human means we have free will. Whether we exercise it or not is a habitual practice of our past.”

“Stress is chemical imbalances that remove the sense of who we are.”

“The world is as you are.”

Jeanette Schneider is speaker, author, advocate, and mother. She is the President and CEO of LIV Media and the founder of Lore Advocacy, a network of professional women changing the world through gender equality and the pursuit of shattering glass ceilings. She is also the host of the Gold with Jeanette Schneider Podcast.

In this episode, Jeanette talks about how women can move past the subconscious beliefs holding them back from achieving their dreams. We also discuss her conscious parenting strategies and how she’s raising a mindful daughter.

Radically Vibrant Jeanette

  • I ask my daughter, “How are you feeling in your heart?” and now it has become a normal part of our relationship where we listen to our feelings when we have to find a solution or answer a question in our lives
  • If I can name the negative feeling and the trigger that caused it, I can take active steps to move through it and grow from it
  • I masculinized myself in corporate America and having a daughter brought out my feminine side and turned me into this advocate

Radically Inspired Clarity

  • Writing a love letter to your younger self shows you the beliefs you had as a kid that are subconsciously living in your mind today
  • In our pain, we are the common denominator and we have to commit to a new way of living or else we stay passive to the darkness we allow into our lives
  • We can have the life that we want and the love that we want but you have to do the work—you have to commit—and slowly you’ll unravel a new way of living

In this episode, Gina talks about her program “Kids Are Not For Sale” and how we can be a part of ending this global problem.

Radically Vibrant Gina

  • It was a personal experience where I was able to potentially dodge a bad situation that connected me to the human trafficking problem
  • There is no trace of trafficking in our products and we ensure this through every part of our product process
  • You don’t have to fail for me to succeed, and I don’t have to fail for you to succeed—we can succeed together

Radically Inspired Clarity

  • We all have a voice and we can leverage it to raise awareness for causes that must be solved
  • We live in a society that hides the worst of us—we don’t want to believe that people are selling children, so we have to talk about these problems
  • The more you give, the more you live

Gina Answers…

  • How did your passion to solve the human trafficking problem come about?
  • Why don’t we know more about human trafficking? Why isn’t it all over the news?
  • What advice would you give to people who think their voice doesn’t make a difference?

Radically Loved Quotes

“I believe it’s all about giving it your best always because even if you fail, you’re always moving forward.”

“People are afraid to discuss human trafficking because it’s an ugly truth. Last year 250,000-300,000 American children were trafficked.”

“Find what you love and speak to it. Every single voice matters.”

  • Curiosity and open mindedness are my favorite traits in others

  • Social media is a beautiful tool that can be used in a powerful way but it shouldn’t be a personal marker for our place in the world
  • Being playful in business is essential to following purpose—our journeys don’t have to make logistical sense
  • Money is a source of freedom and the opportunity it gives to further causes we believe in is a beautiful experience

Jessica Jade is a heart centered entrepreneur, helping women of color embrace self care and their feminine health. She is a health coach, founder of a skincare line, and the host of a TV show.

In this episode, Jessica talks about her experience with celiac disease and the positive impact it has had on her life. She explains her inspiration around building her community, how she deals with her seasonal depression, and how she’s growing her skincare line.

Radically Vibrant Jessica

  • I have to take mental days off of work and, honestly, from humanity and I think everybody should try it
  • Living in New York, I get seasonal depression in January and February, and I’m aware of this and I practice self care and giving myself what I need during that time
  • Sharing my personal experiences online is about divulging information that shows the pretty picture on social media isn’t the only reality

Radically Inspired Clarity

  • When we don’t advocate for ourselves and live lives true to who we are, we hold that within our bodies and it manifests in our health
  • Doubting ourselves and the potential reach of our impact is normal, we have to change our thought patterns to support ourselves instead of questioning our abilities
  • Surrounding ourselves with supporters and like minded people is when we thrive and reach the next level of our lives

Jessica Answers…

  • Tell us about the sugar cleanse that you’re on right now and the experience your having?
  • How did you create your health and wellness community?
  • Can you talk about your seasonal depression?

Radically Loved Quotes

“I feel like a lot of women, especially women of color, don’t advocate for themselves.”

“I use social media to post the parts of my life that are ugly and sad so I can make social media a more transparent place.”

“I radically love myself.”

Anna Yusim is the author of Fulfilled: How the Science of Spirituality Can Help You Live a Happier, More Meaningful Life. She is a Graduate of Stanford University and Yale University School of Medicine and a psychiatrist with a private practice in New York City.

In this episode, Anna explains what to look for when we’re manifesting something from Source, how our perceived reality is a tiny fraction of what’s really happening around us, and why forgiveness will set you free.

Radically Vibrant Anna

  • We are an imprint of the ancestors who lived before us, as well as our parents, and that brings positive traditions and habits as well as negative thought patterns that no longer serve us
  • We often ask the universe for such a specific request that something could be given to us that is so much better than we know but we miss it because our expectations are so narrow
  • We need to live our lives and know the right doors will open when it’s time—we’re not here to worry but to enjoy ourselves

Radically Inspired Clarity

  • Spirituality comes into our lives when we’re ready for it and only then will we see the opportunity for spiritual transformation
  • Ninety-nine percent of reality is unseen and unheard and only 1% is seen and heard from the conscious mind
  • People object the idea of forgiveness without realizing the person benefiting the most from it is us

Anna Answers…

  • How did you realize how important spirituality was in order for you to feel fulfilled?
  • How does our inner world connect to our ancestral imprints?
  • How were you able to integrate daily practice into your spiritual journey?

Radically Loved Quotes

“When we localize our power outside of ourselves and blame other people, we become a victim.”

“Once you transform your inner world, your outer world transforms by association.”

“There is nothing that could be a more inefficient way to live our lives than to be angry and resentful.”
