Radically Loved® with Rosie Acosta

Hi I’m Rosie Acosta. I am a Meditation Teacher; Speaker and Author of You Are Radically Loved: A healing journey to self-love. I grew up in East Los Angeles during the 92 La Riots and it set me on a troubled path for many years. I didn’t grow up with mentors in my life, so I turned to reading as many books as I possibly could to learn about life’s purpose. In my journey as a First Gen-Mexican American, I found having these conversations gave me insight, support, and inspiration. So, I decided to create a place where I could share these conversations with my community. The Radically Loved Podcast was born! How do we create a radically loved life? Come have a sit with me so we can discover all things mindfulness, spirituality, self-love, and overall healthy living. Please be sure to share the episodes that you love and also leave us a review!

Almost 30: Krista Williams and Lindsey Simcik

Krista and Lindsey are the hosts of iTunes Top Rated Almost 30 Podcast, where they talk about all things wellness, self development and humor in complete honesty.

The Almost 30 girls admit the esoteric conversations they have on their show aren’t always easy to talk about. Since starting their podcast, not only have they been given the gift of influence but their conversations have drastically increased their self awareness.

The Almost 30 Podcast is one of my favorite podcasts to date. I’ve been listening to their podcast for over a year now, feeling like I’m not just a listener, but a part of Krista and Lindsey’s conversation that episode. They have become an incredible resource for deep thinking women who want to be able to relate to the hosts as they do their friends.

In this episode of Radically Loved, Krista, Lindsey and I talk about imposter syndrome and how all three of us feel it in our careers to date. The Almost 30 girls highlight their biggest takeaways from their current USA tour, explain how they cultivate presence within themselves, and share the advice they’d give their fifteen year old selves.

Radically Vibrant Krista and Lindsey

  • Remembering that we are students who are always learning and embracing every day of the journey as the final destination
  • Finding balance in our lives doesn’t mean we are 100% perfect, it means we embrace the dance of imbalance as it flows through different parts of our day to day
  • Bringing prana input into our lives when we are feeling depleted due to overstimulation

Radically Inspired Clarity

  • The people we admire are also feeling imposter syndrome and we don’t have to necessarily remove the feeling, but become friends with it
  • Turning off isn’t a question, it’s a necessity-whether that means you are hiking, writing or watching an episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians
  • We either feel more present around other people or less present around other people and understanding which of those we are will help us stay more present

Krista and Lindsey Answer…

  • When did you become curious and open to esoteric knowledge?
  • How can we become friends with imposter syndrome versus trying to eradicate the feeling?
  • How did touring the USA change your outlook on the mindset of twenty to thirty year old women?
  • What would your ninety-five year old self say to you about your current career, relationships and lifestyle?

Radically Loved Quotes

“This morning I was walking to my trash can and I threw it in, half of it missed and hit the ground. I thought to myself, if the quote ‘How you do anything is how you do everything’ is right, I’m a f*cking mess. I do some shit really well, and I don’t do other shit really well.”

“I’m unafraid to say whatever is on my mind. I’m unafraid to be myself. I’m unafraid to speak from my heart.”

“Instead of wishing that you were ten steps from now, or that you did it differently, just be here now and trust that everything is going to work out as it should. Trust yourself to know that you are enough right now.”

Rod Stryker

Radically Loved Podcast

Rod Stryker is a world-renowned yoga and meditation teacher, author and creator of the most comprehensive online yoga teacher training in the world. He is also my teacher!

Rod has spent the last forty years teaching the practices of yoga, meditation and yoga nidra around the world. He works one on one with clients, helping them find and keep enlightenment, as well as corporations, introducing them to the holistic methods to provide healthy, thriving work spaces.

I work closely with Rod as his student and find myself constantly mesmerized by his tight tie to his inner knowing. Spending hours with him reminds me that we are humans interacting with each other, and it is up to each individual to be the light we choose to spread throughout the world through our interactions.

In this episode of Radically Loved, Rod and I talk about how technology is affecting our brain chemistry and why we find ourselves so addicted to Netflix and our cellphones. We discuss yoga nidra and how it is the most powerful form of sleep and meditation available. Lastly, Rod explains how to identify unhappiness and where to begin in shifting into a space of happiness and fulfillment.

Radically Vibrant Rod

  • Using Yoga Nidra to find peace and relaxation in place of meditation
  • Becoming aware of the amount of endorphins we are stimulating in our brains through social media and understanding the consequences of our relationships because of it
  • Identifying our unhappiness, analyzing our patterns and finding the solution through asking, how much joy is in my life?

Radically Inspired Clarity

  • Yoga Nidra is more efficient than sleep, giving you the equivalent of two hours of sleep in twenty minutes of a practice
  • Our nervous systems are the same as they were thousands of years ago, yet we aren’t feeding them as we used to due to technology and that’s what has led the western world to increased stress levels
  • Learning to love yourself and seeking out who you really are by finding the part of your soul that doesn’t change is a fundamental part of lifelong development

Rod Stryker Answers…

  • What are the healing benefits of Yoga Nidra and how is it utilized for people with past trauma?
  • How do we eradicate our inability to identify that we are unhappy or unfulfilled?
  • What rituals do you practice and commit to on a daily basis?
  • What is your hope for the younger generations?

Radically Loved Quotes

“We become so disconnected and as a result of that disconnection our nervous system is upside down. Most of us are always in the sympathetic rhythm which means, fight or flight.”

“Forget what I learned through yoga, because I don’t just want to insert that. Something’s not working and, is there stuff that the yoga tradition can tell us that can help us find solutions?”

“People who look for the benefits of meditation but find meditation difficult, will find the same thing they are trying to access through Yoga Nidra.”

“If you are able to relax, it is a privilege.”

Karen Guggenheim is the Founder and Chief Executive of the World Happiness Summit, WOHASU. Along with her team, she brings together game changers and researchers focused on using science and practical habits to increase happiness from the personal level to the national.

Karen has a personal passion to create a happier world and plans to do so by using science to show how happiness changes our biochemical state, giving us the ability to attain our highest potential. WOHASU has been purposely created as a buffet of research and hands on activities with the intention that attendees can determine the data and habits that resonate internally.

I met Karen while she was in Los Angeles and I was enamored by her passion and dedication to bring an incredible group of people and the community together. Talking with Karen is an ode to the science behind the importance of our happiness. Happiness is not fluffy, it is researched, practical and possible for anybody.

Karen and I talk about how most people end up making themselves less happy while seeking fulfillment and she gives us a road map with directions to cultivate our own happiness. We discuss the science behind how the school system is holding children back from attaining a higher IQ and the researched change we could implement today to improve the system. This is the story of loss and how it manifested into one of the world’s most impactful summits to date.

Radically Vibrant Karen

  • Transforming loss into a happy experience that celebrates the life of your lost one, while understanding you’re still human and need to grieve
  • Tackling happiness directly by forcing yourself to be happy, will make you unhappy, while tackling it indirectly through your spiritual life, intellectual relationship, and physical and emotional well being leads to happiness as a whole
  • Using science to showcase the necessity of happiness and ensuring the research is accessible to as many people as possible

Radically Inspired Clarity

  • Our brain has a negativity bias, since we don’t actually need happiness to survive, and we must discover how to work around it through daily habits that cultivate happiness
  • Become the person you want to be by doing as they would and acting as if you are that person prior to fully transitioning into the higher version of yourself
  • We cannot utilize our full potential if we are unhappy because our energy is spent on negativity instead of self growth, opportunity and gratitude

Karen Guggenheim Answers…

  • How did a personal loss manifest into a Happiness Summit with attendees from all over the world?
  • What does science say about stress’s effect on our ability to forgive and be happy?
  • How do we identify and transition out of our conditioned belief that once we acquire the job, the relationship, the car, then we’ll find happiness?
  • Where do you see the future of society if it were to totally adopt the practices of the World Happiness Summit?

Radically Loved Quotes

“Something that we haven’t touched upon that is extremely important for happiness is gratitude. It’s very hard to be unhappy while you’re being grateful.”

“Happiness is not fluffy, you have to apply yourself. You have to tackle the different areas of your life that contribute to happiness and then, your happiness will increase.”

“Happiness is preventive medicine.”

“There is a lot of potential to make immediate and lasting change in society. It’s important to make this roadmap so societies can thrive by optimizing these resources.”

Her mission is to help people get healthy with complementary and alternative medicine with a focus on integrative medicine. As a yogi and a teacher, I loved Michelle’s book Chakra Healing for Vibrant Energy. It was such an informative manual on how to use chakras in day to day life.

In this episode, Michelle shares how her experience with sickness led her to study chakras, what she does to present ‘woo-woo’ chakra practices to very logical people, how to start working with chakras in your own life, and so much more.

Radically Healing Michelle

  • Finding her own healing from a cancer diagnosis through chakras
  • Making esoteric aayurvedic principles very simple to meet people where they are
  • Remembering that there are no mistakes in the universe to get through challenges

Radically Inspired Clarity

  • Discomfort is a message from your body. This is our ‘work in progress’ chakra.
  • Don’t disregard the powerful healer within. You have direct control over your health and healing.

Michelle Fondin Answers…

  • How do you explain chakras to those new to the practice?
  • What is the relationship between chakras and healing?
  • How do the chakra centers relate to female empowerment?

Radically Loved Quotes

“You can’t control the outcome, but you can control how you handle it day to day.”

“There’s an underlying reason to why we become ill.”

“Health is multi-faceted. If we only look at one aspect, it can be difficult to regain balance.”

“There is power in the feminine. You can harness that and transmute it into personal power.”
