Radically Loved® with Rosie Acosta

Hello Friends, I’m Rosie Acosta. I am a Meditation Teacher; Speaker and Author of You Are Radically Loved: A healing journey to self-love. I grew up in East Los Angeles during the 92 La Riots and it set me on a troubled path for many years. I didn’t grow up with mentors in my life, so I turned to reading as many books as I possibly could to learn about life’s purpose. In my journey as a First Gen-Mexican American, I found having these conversations gave me insight, support, and inspiration. So, I decided to create a place where I could share these conversations with my community. The Radically Loved Podcast was born! How do we create a radically loved life? Come have a sit with me so we can discover all things mindfulness, spirituality, self-love, and overall healthy living. Please be sure to share the episodes that you love and also leave us a review!

This week, Martha Beck joins us to talk about her book, The Way of Integrity, and what it means to live a life of integrity. Most of us define who we are based on our work, culture, and even relationships. Once you strip these all away, who are you really? Society will always push certain expectations of what it means to be normal and what it means to be successful. If you’re feeling lost and frustrated with your life, you’ve come to the right place. Let’s all return back to our peace and understand our true selves.

Tessa talks with Nadine Kenney Johnstone about using writing and journaling as a tool for healing.

Dealing with pain and struggle is never easy. It's natural to feel overwhelmed and lost during your healing journey. Sometimes, you may even forget that dealing with pain affects the people around you. If you cope with it unhealthily, it could strain your relationships. But if you heal properly, it'll also help others heal, which is what writing and journaling do.

Omisade Burney-Scott tells us how to normalize difficult conversations about aging and menopause. Aging is a natural transition in life. However, it's common for people to view aging negatively. But if we don't discuss aging and menopause, we'll never understand it. Compassionate conversations about aging and menopause are vital to break the stigma around them. Together, we can reclaim your menopausal journey.

Tessa speaks with sleep scientist Dr. Aric Prather about The Sleep Prescription. He shares the solutions that can help people, especially people with insomnia, achieve restorative and consolidated sleep. Unlike how we often treat it, sleep is as important as food, water, and oxygen. It is something essential for our survival. As such, not getting enough of it can impact everything else in our life. Fortunately, there are ways to get your sleep back. It would require you to stick to new habits that won’t necessarily happen overnight. But once you embody them, you can begin to sleep well once again as you deserve. Rosie speaks with Rod Stryker about taking accountability for a mistake as someone in a position of authority.

Owning up to mistakes is always a grueling process. It's even multiplied when there's a power differential in the dynamic. Trust is a critical element that binds people to authority figures. The gravity of crossing boundaries and breaching this trust is seen and felt on a larger scale. Rod walks us through the process of repair, self-reflection, taking accountability, and the lessons he learned from making a grave mistake as an authority.

Rosie speaks with Carmen Rita Wong about unraveling her family’s biggest secret in her memoir, Why Didn’t You Tell Me?. Your identity is the most critical piece of yourself. You carry it to every place you go and in everything you do. But as children of immigrant parents, having to tie down very different geographical and cultural boundaries makes this pursuit more complex. How do you begin to embrace who you are after a lifetime of trying to fit in and find your place in the world?

Author Diego “Yung Pueblo” Perez joins Rosie in this episode. They talk about the value of collective healing in global transformation. In a world where self-help and personal healing have become priorities, we have forgotten how to heal collectively. We have become fixated on our political differences. We have lost sight of our shared objective of making the world a better place for everyone.
