Radically Loved® with Rosie Acosta

Hello Friends, I’m Rosie Acosta. I am a Meditation Teacher; Speaker and Author of You Are Radically Loved: A healing journey to self-love. I grew up in East Los Angeles during the 92 La Riots and it set me on a troubled path for many years. I didn’t grow up with mentors in my life, so I turned to reading as many books as I possibly could to learn about life’s purpose. In my journey as a First Gen-Mexican American, I found having these conversations gave me insight, support, and inspiration. So, I decided to create a place where I could share these conversations with my community. The Radically Loved Podcast was born! How do we create a radically loved life? Come have a sit with me so we can discover all things mindfulness, spirituality, self-love, and overall healthy living. Please be sure to share the episodes that you love and also leave us a review!

This week on Radically Loved, Rosie and Tessa talk about dealing with judgment stemming from the changes we want for ourselves or others.

Encountering significant changes in our lives can lead to a fight-or-flight reaction within us, which is normal. Sometimes the constant pursuit of change may lead to judging other people who lead different lives. Instead of understanding them, we try to prove that we're right. However, it's not really about being correct, but about validating each other's feelings and opinions despite having different beliefs.

This week on the You Are Radically Loved Session, Tessa Tovar and Rosie dive into chapter 9 of You are Radically Loved, You are Radically Engaged.

Time and again, fairy tales have conditioned young children that a happily ever after exists. Thus, growing up, we create an idealized version of our relationships and life in general. And this often clashes with the reality that is often far from this picture-perfect vision. As such, we are often met with endless disappointments in this pursuit of ideal love. In the end, it comes down to the ability to understand and discern the relationship you want to build.

This week on Radically Loved, Rosie is joined by author Jancee Dunn to talk about respect, courtesy, and the importance of communication in a relationship.

Everybody wants their troubles to be heard, especially by their loved ones. The problem is, we often forget to talk and let them know we’re having trouble at all by telling them. We give them pointed looks, vent, and show that we’re upset in every way except stating it outright. It’s a struggle that many people in a relationship face, even those who have been together for longer.

This week on #WisdomWednesdays, Rosie and Tessa talk about how a connection with nature can help you find yourself again.

It's easy to lose perspective if you have an unchanging routine; the constant repetition becomes draining. You don't have to sacrifice your rest and peace of mind for productivity — you can have both if you habitually create a connection with nature. Stepping out of the modern world and into the peaceful quiet found in nature can help you change your life in more ways than you’d think.

This week on #WisdomWednesdays, Tessa Tovar and Rosie talk about the nature of attachment in the human journey.

It's hard to imagine a life where we have no attachments to anything—a career, relationship, goals, possessions, etc. Attachments are what keep us going in our everyday lives. They are inherently related to our dreams and aspirations as well as our doubts and worries. Thus, it's critical to determine how to navigate different attachments along our life's journey. The key is to utilize the power of the mind and go after things that serve our highest good.

The world is filled with noise about finding our purpose to unlock the best life. It sounds reassuring that we will someday arrive at something we think we were meant to be. But unfortunately, many people end up spending their entire lives seeking and chasing this unknown purpose, and it’s a futile journey. It's time to start shifting the narrative into creating your purpose the way you want it to be.

This #WisdomWednesday, Tessa and Rosie talk about empathy and remembering the people and stories that have influenced their lives.

As humans, we find that we’re affected by the actions and words of others. Growing up, your parental figures, family, and friends have shaped who you are today. There may be words of wisdom that pushed you to pursue your dreams or gave you the courage to speak up. Sometimes, these words and actions might have stifled you. All of these, good or bad, have paved the way for you. Similarly, your actions and words can affect others. That’s why it’s also important to practice love, kindness, and compassion even for those we might not like.

People would prefer to put on a happy facade than deal with the situation, but setting aside or swallowing feelings and forcefully projecting positivity leads to more unhappiness. In this episode, Rosie and Whitney delve into the causes of toxic positivity and the importance of dealing with our negative emotions.
